Big Brother 18 Premiere Recap Night 1 Wednesday June 22 #BB18

Big Brother is here! Here's our #BB18 Recap of night one of the two-night premiere of Big Brother 18!

Tonight we watched for 2 hours as the new season of Big Brother opened to 12 new houseguests and 4 returning BB veterans.  In the two-night premiere we've already been promised 4 competitions, 3 twists, 2 nights of BB fun, and 1 houseguest leaving before the season even really gets going!  WooHoo!  Let the heads roll!

Of course they started with the usual staged "I'm going to the Big Brother house" key reveals...so we all know how that goes.

We did find out that Natalie was an NFL cheerleader before her current job as an event coordinator.  Paulie exclaimed "No showmances!", but I don't know that I believe it.  Bronte, who has the most annoying voice known to man, seems to think this ear-splitting obnoxious voice of hers is cute. For the love of God, why couldn't one of the HGs been a speech therapist?!?!

Victor comes from a huge house filled with family, so transitioning into a noisy house filled with people shouldn't be too tough on him.  Zakiyah said she thinks the other female houseguests could be intimidated by her...I think she's more than a little full of herself.  Corey apparently has had issues with sleepwalking...maybe that's an early set-up for an excuse to how he ends up climbing in bed with his man-crush Victor??  Just saying!

Before becoming a mobile dog groomer, Glenn was an NYPD narcotics detective, though we don't hear him impart this info to any of his HGs...but that could be because he was too busy running his mouth about everything else and trying to bark his opinion.  Bridgette says "people never expect me to be as smart and manipulative as I am."  I hope she's right, because I'm not expecting too much where she's concerned as of right now.

Jozea thinks Big Brother will be "a piece of cake" for him, and blah, blah, blah...I don't like him much. Michelle may prove to be obnoxious with all of her healthfulness and dietary and be nutritious BS.  She said "I don't like people that don't think they have a weight problem."  OMG...puh-leeaassee!

Paul, well, Paul is loud, obnoxious, and thinks he's a much more original person than he actually is.  He's loud and confrontational and, like a good honey badger, he doesn't give a shit.He did mention that he loves to shoot people down that don't know what they're talking about, in particular, guys "that think they're smart."  THIS could get funny!  Tiffany seems to be a lot like Vanessa but a little less whiney, but its only the first night too.  She says she's smart but "more social than" her sister Vanessa.

Entering the House

The first four HGs to enter the Big Brother 18 house are Natalie, Victor, Michelle and Paul.  Michelle seems to feel some sort of kinship to Paul and even went so far as to say "We're almost the same person except for the cat on his face!'  Ha!! The cat on his face...I love it!  Victor already has his eye on Natalie.

The next group of four to enter the Big Brother 18 house are Bronte, Zakiyah, Paulie and Glenn.  Paul describes Bronte's annoying sound saying it sounds like she's been "sucking helium balloons all her life." Zakiyah has already been looking around and may have set her sights on Paulie.

The last group of four to enter the house are Corey, Tiffany, Bridgette, and Jozea.  Bridgette is a fan she says and still seems overwhelmingly excited about actually being IN the Big Brother house.

The get-to-know-yous start happening and we learn a few more things.  Bronte is already feeling overwhelmed by things and then shows that she obviously has an overinflated sense of self-importance when she chooses to lie about her profession, claiming to be in "child care" rather than tell that she's a mathematician and currently pursuing a higher degree.  While Victor is oogling Natalie, she seems to have her eye on Corey.  Corey is openly admitting to his "bro-mantic" feeling toward Victor...do I smell a sick love triangle in the making? Neither Paulie nor Tiffany are bringing up their Big Brother ties through their siblings Cody and Vanessa, although Michelle is suspicious right away about Tiffany, already putting together that she must be Vanessa's sister but keeping the suspicion to herself.

Bronte mentions that there aren't enough people with the 12 houseguests currently there just before Julie comes on the screen with an announcement for them.  She tells the HGs that there will be 3 twists in the two night Big Brother 18 premiere.  The first is that there are four "stowaways" that have been in the house but that they have not see or heard the new houseguests.  While the other houseguests seem to be paying close attention to what Julie is telling them, I see that Michelle just can't put that drink down.  Easy girl!  Just an observation...

The first of the "stowaways" to show their face is Nicole.  This creates some concern for Paulie seeing that his brother helped send Nicole home and he hopes she doesn't seek to exact revenge on him for his brother's sins.  I love the way Nicole wanted to make sure to announce that she is single now...lol...yeah, don't think I'd want people thinking I'm still running around with that idiot Hayden either.

Next to make their entrance is James.  OMG!  Is it me or has he somehow gotten even shorter?!?!?!  Or maybe the furnishings are just bigger this year, idk...but anyway...James says this season is "all business" for him.

DaVonne makes it in next.  James is a little concerned that she will hold last season's decisions against him.  DaVonne is appearing to want to play a smarter game this time but I doubt her mouth will allow for that.  Paul makes a few comments in DR to let us know he kinda thinks she's a joke of a player.  He obviously didn't think much of her game play last season, that's for sure.

Frank is the last to make it in.  With the mane now tamed Frank looks a bit different...I didn't say good, or even better, just different.  He says that he really hopes to be able to utilize his social game more this time around.

Its obvious that the returnees are more comfortable with one another than the others.  They quickly clump and find a place to talk.  Although they feel they have safety in numbers by sticking together, they do realize they are playing Big Brother and know they need to mingle and create bonds.  DaVonne said " I still have to be *nice* to these newbies."

We see Paul, Zakiyah and Jozea already plotting.  They all want the returnees gone. Jozea exclaims "They have to go!"

Paulie's concern that his kinship to Cody coming out becomes bigger and bigger until he decides to volunteer the information himself.  He just couldn't risk Nicole saying something that would make him look like he was withholding this info.  Paul notices that Paulie didn't decide to volunteer this tidbit until Nicole was present and creating a bigger threat to his secret.  During this secret telling, Tiffany, too, becomes anxious, but doesn't spill the beans on herself.  She doesn't know it yet but DaVonne already has her number, saying in DR that she believes Tiffany is Vanessa's sister but that she'll keep that to herself for now instead of making the same mistake she did last year.

Julie comes on the screen!

Julie then lets us and the houseguests in on the second big twist...teams.  She announces that they will be playing the game in teams of four and that each of them will have a hand in choosing the teams.  while some don't seem to mind the team aspect, DaVonne is less than thrilled, saying that she is there to play for herself, no one else.

And now it's competition time!!  WooHoo!! Let the games begin!

"Right Rocket" is the competition.  There are four large rockets suspended over a tiny landscape.  Julie splits the four veteran houseguests having each of them on a different team.  Each will choose their first team member and it must be a houseguest of the opposite sex.

First round choices:

Frank chooses Michelle
DaVonne says Paulie but then corrects that pointing to Paul, not Paulie...lol
James picks Natalie, and comments that she "looks like a cheerleader"...I wonder if he already knows?
Nicole chose Corey for her team.

Round two choices are done in reverse order.

Corey picks Tiffany to join them.
Natalie chooses Victor for their team. ( I think I see little hearts in his eyes!)
Paul picks Zakiyah, whom he's already been plotting with.
Michelle called for Paulie to come to their team.

Round three reverses the order again.

Paulie picks Bridgette and Zakiyah chooses her other co-conspirator Jozea.
This leaves Bronte to fill Victor's only choice and Glenn to go with Tiffany's team.

Each team will now have to "ride" their rocket to get to their destination.

The first team to have all four members drop will land in Notsburgh, leaving them as dreaded Have Nots for the week.  The second team that falls off will find themselves in Mysteryland, where they will be facing a mystery punishment yet to be told.  The third team to drop will be in Cash City, dividing a $10,000 prize between them, and the last team still holding on to their rocket will land in Safeville, where they will be rewarded with safety for not one, but the next TWO evictions.  Julie then announces that the first eviction will be before the two-night premiere is over.

The BB18 Teams

Before we go any further, let me give a quick rundown on who is on what team again, just to make sure you're straight.

Team Nicole consists of Nicole, Corey, Tiffany, and Glenn.
Team Frank is Frank, Michelle, Paulie, and Bridgette.
DaVonne's team consists of DaVonne, Paul, Zakiyah, and Jozea.
Team James is James, Natalie, Victor, and Bronte.

When told to board their rockets, the challenge started early for Glenn, taking multiple attempts to even hoist his big old ass up and onto the rocket.   SMH...it's not looking good for Glenn already folks.  Hope you weren't liking him too much, because I already smell trouble in his Big Brother future.

With all of the houseguests on their rockets and wrapped securely around them, the task seemed a little too simple.  Then came the rains!  Nothing like a good BB storm to make those rockets as slippery as snot!  Tiffany is the first to slip off, with Glenn just behind her.  Before we can even see it coming, Nicole joins them on the sidelines.  Nicole's team's entire future now depends solely on Corey.  Then Michelle drops off Frank's team's rocket, quickly followed by both Bridgette and then Frank.  Another team down to one!  The weight of their team rests on Paulie now.

The other teams all have all four of their team members until DaVonne and Zakiyah drop, almost simultaneously.  Within moments Paul slips off the rocket and before Jozea can even feel the weight of the responsibility, he too slides off the rocket, making Team DaVonne the first to all fall off.  They land themselves in Notsburgh, making our first Have Nots of the season!

James is the first on his team to drop off, quickly followed by Natalie.  Suddenly the remaining rocket riders are hit with a huge smattering of bird poop and feathers!  Bronte takes a fall, leaving Victor to hold their fate.

We now have Corey, Paulie, and Victor trying to save their teams on their own.  He put up a good fight but Paulie slips and lands his team in Mysteryland.

It's now Victor vs. Corey.  If only Victor would look at Corey and bat his little latin eyelashes, Corey would melt right off the rocket, but he doesn't, and its a battle to the finish.  They're both hanging on for all they're worth when Corey loses his grip and slides off into Cash City.

Victor takes the win for Team James!  James, Natalie, Victor, and Bronte are safe from not one, but TWO evictions!

As HGs go back in, the plotting starts again.  The veterans are getting scared now that they've been seperated and they know they still need to stick together on some level though.  Meanwhile Zakiyah is in the other room preaching that "the old heads gotta go!"  DaVonne approaches her plotting teammates telling them how she will help do all she can to keep her team safe with the others.

Time to Give the Teams Names

The teams must now come up with actual names for themselves.  You wouldn't think this should be such a daunting task, especially in groups of four, thinking together, but that is not the case at all for James' team.
Frank's team decides on Category4 ( #Category4 ).  This is particularly funny to me since the scale actually goes to number 5, so I guess their team is saying that while they're strong, they're not the strongEST team...okay then.  Nicole's team decides on Freakazoids ( #Freakazoids ) which is stupid, but somehow fits that crew.  DaVonne's team even managed to come up with something together, choosing to go with Team Big Sister ( #BigSister), which leaves us with James' team again.  All I can say is that this team MUST be the most unoriginal, boring, goofy people in the house, because after over an hour, they came up with the winning name of Team Unicorn ( #TeamUnicorn ).  Are you freaking kidding me??  Team Unicorn? Seriously?  You frigging lame things you!  I'd expect some goofy shit like that from Nicole and her team, but come on guys!!! Team Unicorn?  SMH, I've lost all respect already...

Tiffany's Secret

Before Julie can come back with more info for our HGs we see Tiffany and Michelle talking privately.  The subject of HGs being related to other HGs comes up and before you know it Michelle is calling Tiffany out.  She tells her she thinks she is Vanessa's sister and that they look and sound alike.  Tiffany, realizing the futility of fighting the truth, fesses up to her.  Michelle is glad they are sharing a secret and says she will keep the information to herself.  Neither of them realize that DaVonne also has Tiffany's number and possibly some others as well.

The Second Competition - Hit the Road

There will be three rounds to this competition.  The teams that win rounds one and two will be safe, but the last team standing will play round three, fighting against each other with one houseguest being evicted at the end.  Boy, oh boy, the teams will get to eat their own!  I'm liking this part!  I can smell the blood in the water already!!

Hit the Road - Round 1

Three of the teammates will hold ropes suspending a platform between them.  Upon this base they must build a sandcastle pyramid that consists of 15 sandcastle blocks.  The pieces must be dug from the sand by one parson then they must place the block and then switch places with another teammate for them to then dig and place a block, and so on... Since Team Unicorn is safe from eviction, they will not be playing in this competition.

Category 4 is the first to complete a full row.  Team Freakazoid jumps to the leader as they are starting on their third row  Big Sister is also on the third row but then the platform tilts and they drop the whole load and are back to starting from scratch.  Then Category 4 loses their pyramid too!  Team Freakazoid is maintaining their lead.  In their rush to catch up with Freakazoid, Big Sister drops their castle again and so does Category 4.  Freakazoid is holding strong but also holding still.  They're having trouble transitioning the rope from Glenn to Nicole.  They only have one piece left to find and place!  They're at a standstill for nearly half an hour!  Better hope all this caution pays off! The tension between Paul and DaVonne on Team Big Sister is palpable.  These two just can't seem to work together!  And they drop it for a third time!

eam Freakazoid makes a move and Nicole grabs the rope.  Before Glenn can get the piece onto the castle, the whole thing topples!  So much for that lead!  Big Sister and Category 4 have been constantly building and balancing, trying to make i to the top spot.  Suddenly Category 4 is down to their last block.  Bridgette places the block and runs to the button to lock in the win!

Team Freakazoid and Team Big Sister will now have to face off in round 2!

Hit the Road - Round 2

This time we have a 3-D sandcastle puzzle that needs to be fit together properly.  There is only one right way to assemble the puzzle and there will be decoy pieces to throw them off.

Team Freakazoid seems to be having some communication issues.  Glenn keeps trying to tell them what they need to do, but nobody listens.  The less they listen, the less he seems to want to put forth the effort to win.  Team Big Sister may be a bit ahead with the puzzle, but the constant bickering and lack of good communication may stop them from taking the win.

Freakazoid quickly makes a jump and runs for the button.  They're wrong!  They discover the problem is in the base of the structure.  Instead of being helpful or constructive in some other way, Glenn keeps on and on with the "I told you so's."  He needs to take a rest before he sets himself up to be first to go!

Freakazoid takes the lead again and then fails yet again as well.  Big Sister is on their heels, but they still check out as being incorrect.  Paul sees the problem and quickly turns the entire structure around to where it needs to be and boom, just like that they've won Round 2.

As the two-hour premiere draws to a close, we look forward to watching Freakazoid now turn on one another and send one packing.  As the show ends we see Nicole whining to James about her current predicament.

We'll be back tomorrow with a recap of the second night's show.  Be sure to follow us on facebook as that's where a lot of our action occurs.
